This treatment should only be considered after medical treatment fails. There are different types of baldness and each require a different, appropriate treatment.
Two different techniques are available and can be performed in a complementary manner. They should be adapted on a case-by-case basis.
Tonsure or scalp reduction :
This technique reduces the area of the scalp without hair. It can be combined with hair grafts, thereby limiting the quantity of grafts needed. It must be performed independently of other interventions and sometimes requires general anesthesia.
Hair is implanted from an area of denser growth (usually the crown) to an area of baldness in order to enable a regrowth which will be stable over time. Micro-grafts are made to improve the overall aesthetic appearance. The procedure varies from 3 to 6 hours depending on the number of hairs transplanted (1000 to 3000).
This procedure is performed under local anesthesia without hospitalization.
